The Trek for
Life - Kilimanjaro 2005 We have joined forces with Travel Talk Radio and host Sandy Dhuyvetter to trek Kilimanjaro in February 2005. We are using the trek as an opportunity for ourselves and you to raise funds for charity. Our preferred charity is the Neurofibromatosis Foundation - I recently lost my brother-in-law to this terrible disease and will do all I can to help this disease to be controlled and eradicated. We are charging just US $999 per person for the trek (usual price is US$3,864) and ask that you raise at least US$5,000 for the charity Texas Neurofibromatosis that's just 50 people donating US $100 to the charity! We will be taking the intentionally slow and most beautiful route to the summit of Kilimanjaro by way of the Shira Plateau and the Western Breach. We will start in the Lemosho Glades and lead you up to the Shira Plateau, then on to Fischer Camp, the Lava Tower Camp, where we build in a rest day for acclimatization, before heading to Arrow Glacier Camp at the base of the Western Breach. We will ascend the Western Breach and camp in the Summit Crater the night before making the final hike to the Summit. This is a beautiful route and far from the crowds normally experienced on the other routes. It is likely that our party will be alone for most of the trek and it will feel as though we have the whole mountain as our playground. Graham J
