Because of our philosophy and approach, we have
attracted a team of the very best guides the Galápagos National Park has
to offer. Each has spent years studying biological and earth sciences at
university, combined with years of experience leading trips in the
Galápagos Islands. They are personable, interesting and entertaining
individuals intent on conveying their deep understanding and love of their
treasured island archipelago. The following are just two of them:

Roberto Plaza is equally at home conductiong a
field study, guiding a naturalist tour, surfing the waves or playing guitar.
His freindly manner and enthusiasm will draw you into the Galápagos
surroundings, making you feel at ease and at home during your stay. Roberto's
interest in bird watching, botany and evolution began as a child while growing
up along the coast near Guayaquil. In 1994 he earned his certification as a
naturalist guide from the Galápagos National Park and today carriers the
highest level of certification given by the park. In 1995 he recieved his
diving license with the aim of expanding his talents into the reserve's
underwater habitats where he has devoted much of his life. In 1998 Roberto went
on to earn a degree in biology with an emphasis on ecology and sustainable
development from the Universidad Latina de Costa Rica. While there, he
successfully completed a program in Business Administration through the
associated Harvard Business School. He also serves as a consultant to the
Galápagos National Park and was commissioned to study the carrying
capacity of Cocos Island National Park in Costa Rica helping to write its
zoning and management plan. His wife is also a guide who currently works for
the Ecuadorian environmental ministry.

Antonio Moreano seems more at home in the water
than out. When leading sea kayaking, snorkeling or scuba trips as a dive
master, his underwater agility will make you feel at ease, opening up a world
you might otherwise miss. Antonio is a certified dive master with open water
and rescue certifications. He has earned degrees from a number of institutions
including the Universidad Central del Ecuador and the Ministerio de
Educación y Cultura. He is as knowledgeable about the natural history
onshore, as he is of the marine reserve and has been guiding in the
Galápagos for ten years.
